Misfits

A novella by J. M. Hix

Summary

An intellectual. A thinker. Quiet maybe, but still involved. Confronted by the loss of his mother at an early age, Jared has spent a lot of time figuring out … how to spend his time.

Misfits begins with the making of new friends, friends who seem to reflect back at Jared the interest he has in living a truly good life. Their heartfelt conversations and shared experiences bring the group closer together and muddy the waters that separate friends from family, and as time progresses the tone of the interactions shifts.

What began as an outward experience—witnessing a solar eclipse—ends introspectively, underscoring those things which make us all human and more alike than different.
