I recently had the pleasure of building a website for Tom Hedt, a writer and photographer with a quiet, contemplative style—and a creative vision to match. My favorite feature on the site is something Tom suggested: a single, rotating line of poetry that appears on the homepage. Each line links to the full poem it comes from, inviting visitors into his work with a sense of mystery and discovery. It’s a simple idea, beautifully executed, and I loved bringing it to life.

The site includes the usual essentials—an About page to get to know Tom better, a Contact page to reach out, and a page listing his writing credits, including Artifacts, his poetry collection, and a unique inspiration journal created in partnership with a local nature center. There are links to buy the print books right there on the site.

What really sets Tom’s website apart, though, is the “Read” section, a gallery where Tom’s poems and photographs are presented side-by-side. It’s an immersive way to experience how his visual and written work interact, offering a deeper look at the themes that run through his art.

Tom and I collaborated to develop a look and feel that supports his work—a clean, reflective design that puts the focus on the words and images. I’m proud of what we made together.
